1) What is an e-Invoice? Does my business need to use it?
​An e-Invoice is defined by Malaysia’s Inland Revenue Board (IRBM) as a digitally issued document by a supplier to record transactions—such as the sale of goods or provision of services.
It serves both as proof of income for the supplier and proof of expense for the buyer. Every e-Invoice must be validated through the MyInvois system to ensure compliance with tax regulations, using a standardized format for accurate and consistent tax reporting.

The implementation of Malaysia’s e-Invoice will be phased according to businesses’ annual turnover / revenue:
Over RM100 million – Mandatory from 1 August 2024
Over RM25 million to RM100 million – Mandatory from 1 January 2025
Over RM5 million to RM25 million – Mandatory from 1 July 2025
Over RM1 million to RM5 million – Mandatory from 1 January 2026
Over RM500,000 to RM1 million – Mandatory from 1 July 2026
Less than RM500,000 – Temporary Exempted
